RBC Community Week makes stop at
Winnipeg Harvest and helps fill a need
Winnipeg, June 12, 2008, – Winnipeg Harvest is the recipient of RBC’s Community Week, which is being held this week, from June 9 – 14 across Canada. Today RBC Foundation provided Winnipeg Harvest with a $15,000 donation towards their Small Agency Delivery Program.
The Small Agency Delivery Program began in early May, operates three days a week, and is currently delivering to 14 agencies each week. “We are so thrilled that RBC has decided to support Winnipeg Harvest and help us deliver much needed supplies to our Small Agency clients,” states Lee Newton, Partnerships Coordinator, and Founder of Winnipeg Harvest. “We know the impact this service is having for our agencies and our hope is to expand the program over time so that agencies that are on our waiting list will be assisted as well. We appreciate the generosity and acknowledge the responsibility that RBC has taken to support us, so that we can continue to support the community at large.”
“Windsor Park Children’s Care Center greatly benefits from Winnipeg Harvest’s outstanding support for our children’s snack program, states Andree Jolicoeur, Executive Director, Windsor Park Children’s Care Center. “The difference that the new Small Agency Delivery Service is making is tremendous because it frees up our staff to spend more time with the children. Funds are tight and staffing is short, so this saves us from having to pay for a substitute when our staff was required to pick up supplies at Winnipeg Harvest. We truly value this additional service.”
“At RBC, we believe that our success is tightly linked with the economic health and social conditions of the communities in which we operate and we know that working partnerships are the best possible way to create lasting changes at a community level” said Kirk Dudtschak, Regional President of RBC in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and North Western Ontario. “We are extremely proud to partner with Winnipeg Harvest to make changes in the lives of families, individuals and children each day.”
