Winnipeg Harvest and Partner Agencies
Winnipeg Harvest distributes food through more than 300 neighbourhood agencies. Partner agencies, throughout the city and province include churches, community centres, schools, post-secondary education facilities, daycares, soup kitchens and community agencies.
Quick Facts:
Food banks, many of which are faith based organizations, provide grocery hampers to individuals and families. Almost one-half of the individuals provided with food are children or the elderly – two of the most vulnerable populations in the province. Food banks supplied by Winnipeg Harvest can be located within the city or communities outside of Winnipeg.
Daycares, many located within the inner city, depend on Winnipeg Harvest to stretch the food budgets allotted to them. In addition to daycares, community organizations for children and youth depend on Winnipeg Harvest to provide up to 100% of their snack or meal needs.
Community Kitchens help those in need to combine resources, cooking and preparing healthy foods together to take to their individual homes. Winnipeg Harvest helps supplement these programs with available vegetables and other food items.
Winnipeg Harvest also provides food products to the major soup kitchens within the city.
