  • Lee Newton founded Winnipeg Harvest in 1984, and the warehouse opened its doors in July 1985.
  • Winnipeg Harvest started in a rented warehouse on rue St. Joseph in St. Boniface.
  • In 1993, because of growing demand, Harvest acquired a larger building at 1085 Winnipeg Avenue with the support of the Kinsmen Club of Winnipeg.
  • By  2000 Winnipeg Harvest needed more space. With the support of donations, Harvest expanded by acquiring and renovating the building next door at 1095 Winnipeg Ave.
  • In its first year of operation, Winnipeg Harvest distributed 200,000 pounds of food.  By 2003 that had increased to seven million pounds of food moving through its warehouses.
