how do I get food?
For food assistance please phone 982-3660 OR 1-800-970-5559 (outside Winnipeg).

Our volunteer phone operators will assist you in making an appointment at a Winnipeg area foodbank.
We help anyone who asks us for food. We simply require that you provide a Manitoba medical number to receive emergency food.
- if you need food, you can get it in your neighbourhood through Winnipeg Harvest
- Harvest assists everyone to access food as soon as possible as close to home as possible
- phone Harvest to make an appointment to pick up food from one of Harvest’s food banks. If you live outside Winnipeg, you’ll be directed to an outlet in your community.
- you’ll talk with a Harvest volunteer. He or she will ask you for information such as the number of children in your household and your source of income (not the amount).
- Harvest asks for your Manitoba Medical Card number to use as your personal ID number
- any information you share with Harvest is strictly confidential
- you can access a food bank once every two weeks
- how much food you get depends on how many people in your household - click here - to see a description of what you should receive
- one individual food kit lasts 2-3 days
- Harvest books an average of 500 food bank appointments per day
